An aspirant for Ibadan North East Constituency, Oyo State House of Assembly (2027), Dr. Oluwademilade Akin-Alabi, popularly known as GENIO, has said that he represents a new wave of leadership in the state.
Speaking with journalists, Akin-Alabi said he would bring new ideas and strategies that depart from outdated systems that no longer serve the people.
He said: “The people are ready for real change, and I am committed to ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is felt across every part of my constituency.
“I am contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It is a progressive party that aligns with my vision for inclusive governance, youth participation, and grassroots development. I strongly believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda, and I see the APC as the most viable platform to drive meaningful change and deliver impactful policies to the people of Ibadan North East and Oyo State at large.”
Akin-Alabi is an European-trained medical doctor with a solid academic foundation built both locally and internationally. His education has equipped him with discipline, critical thinking, and a deep sense of responsibility towards humanity—values which he is committed to bringing into public service.
”My campaign will be grassroots-driven and youth-focused. We will engage directly with communities, build strong volunteer networks, and leverage both physical and digital platforms. The message is clear: It is our time—àwa l’ókàn. Youths must step forward and take their place in leadership because our future is at stake.”
He further stated that his experience as a medical doctor would be of help to him in serving his people.
He added: “My medical background gives me a deep understanding of public health and human well-being. I understand that the basic needs of our people are not being adequately met, and I am determined to change that. My experience has taught me the importance of preventive healthcare, efficient systems, and compassionate leadership.
These insights will shape my legislative priorities and policy decisions.
“I envision a system that prioritises decentralisation, transparency, and efficiency. Local governments must be empowered to address local challenges effectively, and governance must be more accountable and responsive to the people.
“I will focus on youth-centric and people-oriented reforms, including programmes to take youths off the streets and into education, skills, or professions. Strengthening primary healthcare and expanding medical outreach programmes.
Supporting entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. Improving access to quality education. Ensuring transparency and accountability in governance. I will also ensure that the elderly and underserved are not neglected through targeted health care and social support initiatives.”
