The Director General of National Environmental Standards and Regulatory Enforcement Agency, NESREA, Innocent Barikor has stated explicitly that they will exhibit uncommon resolve to safeguard the Nigerian environmental ecosystem.

In a statement in Abuja to commemorate 2026 Workers Day Ceremony, Barikor said as Nigeria joins the world to celebrate the event, they salute all of who give meaning to the mandate from Headquarters to Zonal Offices, State Field Offices, Operational Areas, and our laboratories.

He also stated that their job as the police of the environment is certainly not an easy one. “Yet, with your professionalism, courage, and sacrifice, we have navigated difficult terrains and met the expectations of Nigerians, even in the midst of limited resources.”

While thanking the workers for showing up every day with integrity and commitment, he urged them to together, saying, “we have taken on programmes and projects , like expanding the scope of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Programme, enforcing the provisions of the National Environmental Regulations.”

According to the NESREA boss, they have been able to sensitizing Nigerians in various parts of the country, on the environmental sustainability, as well as maintain the integrity of our biodiversity, among others.

“As we mark this year’s Workers day, we reaffirm our commitment to Staff Welfare , improved conditions of service, and training opportunities.We urge all to recommit to the values like discipline, dedication, and due diligence in the service to humanity.”
