Former Governor of Cross River State, Clement Ebri, has expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Bassey Otu, saying the state is witnessing steady progress and renewed optimism under the current administration.

Ebri, who chairs the state’s Elders Advisory Council, said Cross Riverians were increasingly appreciative of what he described as purposeful governance, visible development, and a clear vision for growth.

According to him, the administration has continued to inspire confidence through measurable achievements across critical sectors of the state’s economy and governance structure.

“There is a growing feeling across the state that Cross River is firmly on the path of restoration, growth, and greater prosperity,” he said, adding that public confidence was now rooted in visible outcomes rather than political rhetoric.

The former governor particularly highlighted ongoing efforts toward the recovery of the state’s oil wells, describing the process as a major economic milestone capable of reshaping Cross River’s future.

He said progress made in the recovery effort had rekindled optimism among residents and renewed belief in the state’s economic potential and long-term prosperity.

Ebri noted that restoring Cross River’s stake in its oil resources would create opportunities for infrastructure development, wealth creation, and economic expansion across communities.

“With the rightful resolution of this matter, Cross River stands poised to reclaim its place as a thriving economic force for the benefit of present and future generations,” he stated.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting moves aimed at resolving the long-standing dispute over the oil wells.

Speaking on the political future of the state ahead of the 2027 elections, Ebri maintained that Cross River’s destiny would continue to be shaped by its people through their collective aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.

“The future of Cross River belongs to Cross Riverians alone. No outside influence will determine it, and no external agenda will define it,” he said.

The elder statesman added that support for the current administration was growing because citizens were witnessing governance driven by action rather than promises, expressing confidence that the state would continue on the path of restoration and economic growth.
