Only credible APC primary can decide Ogun East Senatorial ticket’,- Daniel

Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Gbenga Daniel

Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has said that only a free, fair, and credible primary election can resolve the ongoing contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Daniel, who is seeking re-election to the Senate, declared that he had reached a “point of no return” in his bid to return to the National Assembly, insisting that no political opposition could derail his ambition.

“Nobody can stop me. We have reached a point of no return. By the grace of God, we will not be disgraced,” he said.

He made the remarks at the Obalofin Court, his private residence in Ijebu-Ode GRA, during the BAT/OGD Movement Mid-Term Assessment Tour and empowerment programme for constituents in Ogun East Senatorial District.

The event featured a free medical outreach for over 2,500 residents, alongside the distribution of agricultural inputs such as fertilisers and sprayers to farmers. Beneficiaries also received empowerment items including power generating sets, freezers, sewing machines, and other support tools.

Daniel, who has already obtained his APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the senatorial race, said he was fully prepared to compete with other aspirants for the party’s ticket.

He urged party members and supporters to participate actively in the primary election process, stressing that the Electoral Act empowers card-carrying members to determine candidates through voting.

He also cautioned against intimidation or manipulation during the exercise, insisting that delegates must be allowed to freely choose their preferred candidate.

“I have reached the point of no return on this contest. On the day of the primary, take your membership card, go to your ward, and vote for the candidate of your choice. Do not be intimidated,” he said.

Daniel expressed confidence that he would secure a decisive victory if the process is conducted transparently and fairly.

He also highlighted developmental projects executed during his tenure as governor and current term as senator, saying Ogun East would benefit further from his continued representation.

Speakers at the event commended his contributions to infrastructure and grassroots development across Ijebuland, describing his interventions as impactful and enduring.
