Supporters of ex-female lawmaker, Mrs Maria Ude Nwachi, across the Ebonyi South Senatorial District have called on her to declare interest in the Saturday, January 15, 2027, National Assembly election to represent them at the red chamber.
 
According to the supporters who are spread across the Afikpo, Edda, Ivo, Ohaozara, and Onicha Local Councils of the state, the female politician and media personality possesses the capacity and competence to represent them at the Senate.
 
Speaking to journalists yesterday, one of the supporters, Mrs Olekanma Nwaka, who hails from Afikpo Local Council, said it was high time a credible and people-oriented leader was elected to represent the Zone, adding that the district was currently marred by poor representation and underperformance.
 
She said: “After a far-reaching appraisal of all the aspirants of various political parties for the Ebonyi South district in the National Assembly elections coming January 15, 2027, Mrs Maria Ude Nwachi is our preferred aspirant, and we urge stakeholders in the Zone to support her in securing victory in the position.
 
“As a community-driven woman, Mrs Nwachi has all it takes to offer the people a special kind of representation in the National Assembly that will impact their lives positively.”
 
On his part, a community leader in the Afikpo council, Mr Boniface Iduma-Amah, called on the former Minority Leader to contest, saying the positive imprints she left during her time at the Ebonyi State House of Assembly were indelible.
 
He said: “With her personal money, Maria supplied electricity multiple times to the people of Afikpo. That kind gesture benefited some parts of Ebonyi South and even Erei in Cross River. She would have continued, except that those in power with entrenched interests stopped her.

“While in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, she did all her projects with her personal funds, she also did some roads in other constituencies like Abaomoge in the Onicha Local Council. During her time in the Assembly, her slogan was, “I will serve myself last”.
