The North-East Team under the National Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC) 2026 has intensified community engagement activities across selected communities in Yola South and Yola North local government councils of Adamawa state.

The exercise, led by the Zonal Director, Mr. Suleiman Yakubu, focused on sensitising residents on disaster preparedness, improving early warning awareness, and strengthening community resilience against potential hazards and emergencies.

In Yola South local government area, the team, as observed by The Guardian, visited Makama, Mbamba, Angwan Tarbo and Shagari communities, while in Yola North Local Government Area, the engagement covered Gbonronji and Rimawa communities.

The campaign was carried out in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs), and traditional and community leaders in the affected areas.

Their active participation was said to have contributed significantly to the success of the exercise, reflecting strong grassroots support for disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness initiatives.

According to the organisers, the engagement highlights a shared commitment among stakeholders to promote safer, more informed and resilient communities across Adamawa State.
