Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abba Bichi, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the 2027 general election.
Bichi, who currently represents Bichi Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives, emerged as the party’s sole candidate and was returned unopposed during the APC primaries.
Similarly, former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, clinched the APC ticket for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also emerging victorious during the primaries were Barrister Shehu Muhammad for Fagge Federal Constituency and Abdullahi Muazu Baban Ganduje for Kabo/Gwarzo Federal Constituency.
Jibrin, Shehu Muhammad and Baban Ganduje, all serving members of the House of Representatives, were affirmed as candidates following consensus arrangements reached among party stakeholders.
Reports from the APC state secretariat further indicated that Idris Dankawu and Rabiu Ibn Yusuf emerged winners for Kumbotso and Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituencies respectively.
In Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency, another serving lawmaker, Hon. Mohammad Nalaraba, also secured victory in the party’s primary election.
Meanwhile, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Farouk Lawan, failed in his bid to secure the APC ticket for Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency.
Lawan lost to Yusuf Badau in what party officials described as a keenly contested primary election held in the constituency.
Confirming the development, APC spokesperson in Kano State, Auwalu Soja, said Abba Bichi emerged as the sole candidate for his constituency and was subsequently affirmed by party delegates.
According to Soja, candidates emerged through consensus arrangements in 20 federal constituencies, while elections were conducted in four constituencies where stakeholders failed to reach agreements.
He added that results from some constituencies were still being collated as of the time of filing the report.
