Governor Umo Eno has commended members of the All Progressives Congress for what he described as the massive turnout and peaceful conduct recorded during the party’s ongoing Senate primaries across Akwa Ibom State.
The governor spoke with Government House correspondents shortly after participating in the APC senatorial district primary election held at Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
According to him, the turnout witnessed during the exercise reflected growing support for the APC among residents of the state.
He said the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the primaries also demonstrated public confidence in the party and support for continued development at both the state and national levels.
“For my ward, you can see for yourself the mammoth crowd. This is how it will continue to be. The love of Akwa Ibom people for the APC is very strong, and that’s what you are seeing throughout these primaries,” the governor said.
“Even though some of the candidates are unopposed, this is to test our strength. You can see that all our people have come out and they are firm across the state, and you can see that it has been very peaceful across the state,” he added.
Governor Eno also congratulated Aniekan Bassey, who emerged victorious in the Uyo Senatorial District primary, alongside other successful candidates across the state.
He further reassured Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Akwa Ibom State’s support ahead of the APC presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, and the 2027 general elections.
