A mother of four, Amarachi Promise-Amadi, is demanding justice after a tragic crash along the Eastern Bypass in the Ogbunabali area of Port Harcourt claimed the lives of three of her children.

The heartbreaking incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on May 15, when a vehicle allegedly veered off the road and rammed into the family’s residence, killing three children aged 3, 4 and 10.

Speaking amid tears, Promise-Amadi recounted the horrifying moment she lost her children. She explained that she had briefly stepped out to answer a phone call when the vehicle suddenly crashed into their compound while the children were outside.

According to her, the impact killed the three children instantly and also left her domestic staff seriously injured.

The grieving mother alleged that the vehicle was occupied by a young man who was reportedly teaching his girlfriend how to drive at the time of the incident.

She also accused some medical facilities, including the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, of negligence, claiming that her injured daughter and domestic staff were denied prompt medical attention after they were rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Promise-Amadi called on the Rivers State Police Command to conduct a thorough investigation into the tragedy and ensure justice for her deceased children.

She also urged the police to follow due process in handling the matter, alleging that the female driver and her boyfriend attempted to flee the scene immediately after the crash but were stopped by residents and members of the community.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured the public of a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, described the incident as tragic and painful.

“The Rivers State Police Command is deeply saddened by the tragic incident which reportedly claimed the lives of three children from the same family. The unfortunate development has generated widespread grief and concern within the state,” the statement read.

The Commissioner extended heartfelt sympathies to the family and prayed for the strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.

He assured residents that the command had commenced a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and vowed that anyone found culpable would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The command also urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information and cooperate with investigators as inquiries continue into the devastating incident.
