Head coach of Guinea-Bissau, Djurtus Emiliano Té believes his team is capable of beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria when both teams face off later today in the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Té, however, admitted that it’s going to be difficult to secure maximum points against the three-time African champions, but the task is not impossible.

The 43-year-old former midfielder shared his thoughts during the press briefing on Monday.

“We know it’s difficult to beat Nigeria, but it’s not impossible. We’re not going to look at the history of matches between the two teams,” he said, as quoted by Odemocratagb.

Emiliano Té also admitted history favours Nigeria as the Super Eagles have won three of the last four meetings between both teams.

However, he argued that his team is motivated and has a clear objective to claim maximum points at the end of 90 minutes.

“They have the advantage, with three wins, while we’ve only managed one, but that’s part of history.”

“Today, the motivation is different, the moment is different, and the objectives are also different. Therefore, we will approach this game with great composure and courage to win the three points.”

Guinea-Bissau go into the match on the back of a 2-0 win over Tanzania 2-0 away, while Nigeria’s Super Eagles survived a scare from Madagascar to begin their campaign with a 2-1 win.
