Troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY II have carried out a successful raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, recovering explosive materials and arresting three suspects during the operation.
The raid, which was conducted in the early hours of Friday at Achi Town, followed intelligence reports linking the location to cult-related and other criminal activities within the area.
Security operatives, working alongside local security personnel, stormed the residence and recovered eight motorcycles as well as two buckets containing locally made gunpowder suspected to be intended for unlawful activities.
Three suspects — an 85-year-old man and two women — were apprehended during the operation and later handed over to security authorities in Oji River for further investigation.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and disrupt the activities of armed groups and cult-related elements operating within parts of the South-East.
The latest raid also highlights increasing security pressure on suspected criminal hideouts across the region as security agencies intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at restoring public safety and preventing violent attacks.
Operation EASTERN SANITY II reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements while urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
