The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election committee has officially declared Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali as the party’s gubernatorial  candidate to contest in the 2027 general election in Yobe State.

The governorship primary election results were announced on Friday   at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Damaturu, following the collation of votes from the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Chairman of the APC Yobe State Governorship Primary Election Committee (YGPEC) and the  Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma, disclosed: “The primary election exercise was conducted under the strict supervision of party officials, stakeholders, and agents representing all the aspirants.”.

According to Darma, the final election result figure released by the committee is 254,013 valid votes were cast across the state.

Revealing that Baba Mallam Wali has emerged victorious with a landslide 236,711 votes, defeating six other contenders.for the gubernatorial drat in the state.

The full results are as follows: Baba Mallam Wali- 236,711, Abubakar B. Kagu-9,748, Hamidu A. Mohd-1,722, Bashir S. Machina-1,894, Modu Ma’aji-1,371, Yunusa Mustapha-1,176 and Inusa Mohammed got-1,148.

Speaking at the collation centre,  Darma declared: “The candidate is hereby returned as the party’s governmental nominee.”

The official return document, endorsed by the ballot chair and ballot secretary, was issued on May 22, 2026. Darma then invited party leaders and respected dignitaries to join him onstage for the formal presentation of the certificate of return to the winner.

In his acceptance speech, an elat Wali commended the primary election committee for conducting a transparent, peaceful, and seamless exercise across the state.

He also expressed deep gratitude to key APC stakeholders in Yobe State whose unwavering support contributed to his victory, pledging to unite all party members ahead of the general election in the state.

“This is a victory for our great party and for the people of Yobe State,I extend my hand of partnership to all aspirants both those who supported me and those who opposed me. Together, we will ensure the APC’s triumph in 2027,” said Wali.
