The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has hailed the Department of State Services (DSS) for ensuring what it described as a peaceful, credible and historic 2026 national convention held in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the newly elected NANS president, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the students’ body praised the security agency for its professionalism, vigilance and operational coordination throughout the convention, saying the exercise was conducted in an atmosphere of peace and order.
Afeez said the successful conduct of the convention would have been difficult without the “robust security architecture” put in place by the DSS, adding that the agency played a crucial role in safeguarding lives and maintaining decorum during the gathering of student leaders from across the country and the diaspora.
The NANS president also singled out the Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi, for special commendation, describing his leadership and support as instrumental to the success of the convention and the credibility of the electoral process.
He further applauded DSS operatives deployed for the exercise, noting that their patriotism, professionalism and strategic coordination contributed immensely to the peaceful outcome of the event.
Afeez expressed confidence in the continued partnership between NANS and the DSS, stressing that stronger collaboration would promote productive engagement in the interest of Nigerian students and national development.
