The General Manager of newly crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Enugu Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku, has resigned from his position as secretary of the NPFL Club Owners Association. The development has fueled speculation about his future in football administration.

Ezeaku announced his decision in an official statement released yesterday, describing his tenure as both rewarding and impactful.

He expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the association for the confidence reposed in him throughout his service.

“Today, I formally tendered my resignation as Secretary of the Nigeria Premier Football League Club Owners Association,” Ezeaku stated.

“It was a profound honour and privilege to have been allowed to work alongside club owners and administrators who are committed to the growth and sustainability of professional football in Nigeria.”

“My resignation will not in any way reduce or change my commitment to Nigerian football. I remain passionate about the game and will continue to support initiatives that promote excellence, integrity, innovation and sustainable growth within our football ecosystem,” he said.

The resignation comes at a time when uncertainty surrounds Ezeaku’s future at Rangers International, following comments he made during a media interaction with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Enugu State chapter, last Friday.

During the session, he revealed that he would require about 21 days to decide whether to continue in his current role with the reigning NPFL champions.

According to him, a combination of family considerations and several lucrative offers from both within and outside Africa has prompted him to carefully evaluate the next phase of his career.

Ezeaku disclosed that international football organizations, including FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), have shown interest in engaging his services in strategic roles.

Among the opportunities reportedly under consideration is the position of Senior Legal Counsel, Litigation, at FIFA, with the office based in Miami, Florida, United States.

His latest resignation is expected to intensify discussions within football circles, with many stakeholders viewing it as a possible indication of a major career move on the horizon.
