… Calls Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu to Intervene
Stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Alimosho Federal Constituency have raised an alarm over alleged plots by external party forces to overturn the results of their recent primary election.
During a heated press conference held in Alimosho, party faithful openly rejected attempts to impose an unpopular candidate on the constituency.
They fiercely demanded that the internal democratic process be respected, issuing an urgent appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to step in and protect the integrity of the vote.
Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved stakeholders, Mr. Okedara Kolawole of the Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CAGRAND) revealed that certain party leaders outside the constituency are actively conspiring to subvert the mandate handed to the incumbent House of Representatives member, Mr. Ganiyu Ayuba.
Kolawole provided a stark breakdown of the primary election numbers to highlight the injustice of the alleged plot:
Mr. Ganiyu Ayuba (Incumbent), 37,021 and Closest Opponent, 2,793
“The result is clear and represents the collective will of APC members in Alimosho,” Kolawole stated. “Any attempt to impose another candidate against the wishes of party members will undermine internal democracy. We call on the APC leadership to protect the mandate freely given by party members.”
Kolawole further noted that prior to the primaries, constituency stakeholders had already adopted Ayuba as a consensus candidate. He warned that tampering with a landslide victory of this magnitude would only breed resentment and fracture the party ahead of future elections.
The resistance against the alleged imposition stretches far beyond political delegates, drawing strong backing from Alimosho’s traditional and economic leadership.
The monarch of Ikotun Kingdom, Oba Azeez Gbadabiu, cautioned outsiders against destabilizing the peace of the zone. “We will not allow anybody to destroy what we have built over the years. The people should be allowed to make their choice peacefully,” the royal father declared.
Ganiat Balogun, the Iyaloja of Badore Market, emphasized that Ayuba’s massive vote count was a direct result of his performance. “The people came out in large numbers to support Ayuba because he understands their needs and carries everybody along, especially market women,” she said.
Reacting to the development, the incumbent lawmaker, Mr. Ganiyu Ayuba, thanked the constituents for defending their choice and urged everyone to remain calm and law-abiding.
Deflecting personal praise, Ayuba maintained that the mandate belongs entirely to the people of Alimosho, having been earned transparently without any external manipulation.
“This is not my personal mandate. It is the mandate of the people,” Ayuba said. “I appeal to everyone to remain calm and continue to support our party and the government of President Bola Tinubu. I pledged to my people that more should be expected in my second term. We have made it mandatory to keep Alimosho and Lagos safe.”
