Some of the biggest MMA warriors in various categories have assembled in Lagos in search of the points that will place them on top of their cadres when the Professional Fighters League (PFL) African card is marked.

They are eight Nigerians and 18 others from across the continent, who have come to show why they deserve to be the continent’s champions.

Some of these gladiators have never tasted defeat in their mixed martial arts journeys, just as many have other legacies they are here to protect.

With 13 fights at the luxuriant Eko Hotels and Suites, MMA connoisseurs are guaranteed a night full of glamour, suspense and grunts.

Among the fighters is the Zambian amazon, Shelda Chipito, who is set to battle with Nigerian police woman, Joy Ukah, in the strawweight category.

Speaking ahead of the fight, Chipito said she has come to Lagos to show Nigerians why she is one of the best rated fighters in the world.

The Zambian, who said that the presence of many Nigerians at the venue would not deter her from subduing Ukah, boasted that the fight would reveal why she is called the ‘miracle’ girl.

“I have gone through a lot in life, which has made me the fighter I am now.

“My mission is to add my opponent to my casualties lists and assure my fans back home that no matter the odds, under any situation, their girl will always come out victorious.”

In response, Ukah, who said that she is not given to boasts, said that Chipito would be added to the statistics when the fight is over today.

“I’m so excited to be on this fight happening in Nigeria for the first time.

“I have prepared very well for this fight; because we don’t have the facilities and equipment, I went to train in DR Congo and I am ready.

“I fought in kickboxing several times, boxing several times, taekwondo several times, and wushu kung fu several times.

In my MMA profession, I am 9-0, two KOs. I have not lost any and this will be the number 10 win of my career.”

Other Nigerians listed for the night are the undefeated Nigerian, Wasi Adeshina, Patrick Ocheme, Cornel Thompson and Yahaya Yahuza.

They will be up against Nacho Campos from Spain, Octave Ayinda (Cameroon), Alain Majorique (Cameroon), Thimna Mhlahi (South Africa), Dwight Joseph of Liberia, and Karim Henrienne of Algeria, among others.

Looking forward to an exciting night at the Eko Hotels, PFL Africa General Manager, Elias Schulze, urged MMA lovers in Lagos and its environs to come to the venue early to be part of the show.

Schulze said that it was not by accident that of the 26 fighters billed to fight in Lagos tomorrow, eight of them are Nigerians, adding that arrangements have been made to broadcast the events worldwide through Supersport and Sporting TV.
