In Adamawa State, the police have apprehended two armed robbery suspects who have been on the police wanted list since 2025.
Spokesperson of the Adamawa Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspects were arrested by Operation Sanity in Mubi area of the state. According to Ngoroje, the suspects, Abdulhamid Salihu (alias Baban Anty), and Bello Yahaya (alias Baban Yambiyu), were arrested following a robbery incident at Unguwar Kara in Mubi on June 10, 2026.
In a statement, he noted that the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations by the police operatives attached to Mubi north and south councils.
“The suspects, alongside two accomplices currently at large, allegedly attacked one Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and dispossessed him of cash and other valuables.
Through sustained intelligence-led operations, police operatives attached to Mubi South and Mubi North tracked and apprehended the suspects,” the statement read.
It further disclosed that exhibits recovered included stolen mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travel-bags and the weapons allegedly used in committing the crime. It added that while the investigation continues, efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
