Nodeori Group has partnered with the University of Lagos and the Tax Academicians Association of Nigeria (TaxAAN) to convene the National Tax Forum 2026 (NTF 2026), aimed at examining the implications of Nigeria’s new tax laws for businesses, the informal sector and revenue performance.
The forum, scheduled to hold on July 2 and 3, 2026, at the University of Lagos, is themed “Nigeria’s New Tax Era: Implications for Businesses, the Informal Sector, and Revenue Performance.”
Sessions are scheduled to run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., while registration closes on June 29.
It comes in the wake of the implementation of four new tax acts that took effect in January 2026, a development regarded as one of the most significant overhauls of Nigeria’s tax system in recent history.
Organisers said the event would serve as a platform for policymakers, regulators, business leaders, tax professionals, academics and innovators to deliberate on the practical implementation of the new tax framework and its implications for compliance, economic activity and revenue generation.
The forum will open with a welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Folasade Ogunsola, while the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, is expected as Special Guest of Honour.
NTF 2026 is being convened by Professor Shola Ajiboye of Nodeori Group; Professor Abiola Sanni, President of TaxAAN and Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos; Professor Isaac Nwaogwugwu, Vice-President of TaxAAN, University of Lagos; and Professor O. J. Otusanya, Head of Accounting and Taxation, University of Lagos.
Confirmed speakers and moderators include Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director-General, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN); Innocent Chinyere Ohagwa, President, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN); Chinyere Almona, Director-General, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI); Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA); Ifeanyi Christopher Oputa, Director-General, Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI); Anita Erinne, Coordinating Secretary, Tax Appeal Tribunal; and Akpan Ekpo, among other leading voices from academia, business associations and revenue administration.
Speaking ahead of the event, Professor Ajiboye said the enactment of the new tax laws had shifted national attention from legislation to implementation, noting that businesses, regulators and tax practitioners must now work to ensure the reforms achieve their intended objectives.
He said the forum would help bridge the gap between policy and practice by creating opportunities for stakeholders to engage on compliance challenges, implementation strategies and the inclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as operators in the informal economy.
“The programme will feature plenary sessions in the university’s Main Auditorium and five parallel breakout sessions across designated halls.
“Discussions will cover personal income tax, companies’ income tax reforms, capital gains and hydrocarbon taxation, value-added tax and stamp duties, taxation of the informal economy, fiscal federalism and tax harmonisation, digital tax administration, transparency and citizens’ welfare, and global best practices relevant to the Nigerian context.”
Organisers said a key feature of the forum would be its focus on producing practical outcomes capable of supporting ongoing tax reforms. These include a closing communiqué to be issued within 48 hours of the event, the NTF 2026 Compendium within 30 days, a Recommended Amendments Package within 30 days, and the NTF 2026 Policy Report within 45 days.
According to the organisers, the proposed amendments will be developed in time for consideration during the Federal Government’s end-of-2026 review cycle for the four new tax acts.
The forum is being presented with Taxbags as headline sponsor. Organisers described the company as the technology architecture supporting Nigeria’s new tax framework, noting that its involvement underscores the growing role of digital solutions in tax administration and compliance.
The organisers expressed confidence that the gathering would provide a valuable platform for dialogue, policy development and stakeholder engagement as Nigeria adapts to its new tax era
