Ogun police bust arms, theft syndicates, arrest six in coordinated operations

Ogun State Police Command

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime, arresting six suspects linked to arms trafficking, theft, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property in a series of coordinated intelligence-led operations across Abeokuta, Wasimi, and Ibafo.

The operations, carried out by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, and the Ibafo Division, led to the recovery of one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators, and nine Android mobile phones suspected to have been stolen. Police said the raids successfully disrupted multiple criminal networks operating within the state.

Among those arrested were suspects allegedly involved in a generator theft syndicate, an illegal arms network, and a vehicle parts theft ring.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices and other members of the criminal groups, while all suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
