The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Oba Rasheed Olabomi, has underscored the need for stronger collaboration among traditional institutions to promote unity and drive socio-economic development across communities.
Oba Olabomi made the call during royal visits to two foremost traditional rulers in Ogun State, describing the engagements as part of efforts to deepen the cordial relationship between the university and the host kingdoms.
The visits took the Pro-Chancellor to the palaces of HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and HRM Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom.
The monarch explained that although he was appointed Pro-Chancellor of FUNAAB about two years ago, official engagements and other commitments had prevented him from undertaking the customary visits earlier.
According to him, the visits were designed to strengthen existing bonds among traditional institutions, foster unity and encourage collaboration on issues of common interest.
Oba Olabomi stressed that traditional rulers have a critical role to play in promoting peace, development and social cohesion, adding that greater cooperation among royal fathers would help address challenges confronting their communities.
He also expressed gratitude to the monarchs for the warm reception and hospitality accorded him and his delegation.
The FUNAAB Pro-Chancellor reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with other traditional rulers to advance the socio-economic development of their respective domains and improve the well-being of their people.
The visits, according to him, reflect a shared commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and leveraging their influence for community growth and development.
In their remarks, the monarchs commended FUNAAB’s contributions to teaching, research, and community service, while reaffirming their goodwill and support for the University’s aspirations and strategic objectives.
The Pro-Chancellor was accompanied on the visits by the Global President of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi; the Chief of Staff to Aragbiji-in-Council, Olayide Oladiti and the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Olasunkanmi Olajide.
The Pro-Chancellor also carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing rehabilitation of the University’s swimming pool facility on campus, immediately after the royal visits
