The Governing Council of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (EAUED), Oyo, has approved the appointment of Associate Professor Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi as the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
According to a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, the appointment took effect from June 19, 2026, and will run for an initial period of two years.
Raimi, an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science, brings over three decades of teaching, research and academic administration experience to the position.
Born on December 27, 1959, in Oyo West Local Government Area of the state, Raimi attended R.C.M. Primary School, Asogo, Oyo, before proceeding to Oranyan Grammar School, Oyo, where he obtained his West African School Certificate.
He later earned a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Biology and Chemistry from the then Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa (Oyo Campus), before obtaining a Bachelor of Education degree in Chemistry from the University of Benin.
The academic further obtained a Master’s degree in Science Education and a doctorate in Science Education with specialisation in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan.
Raimi began his teaching career during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year at Government Secondary School, Ulayi, Otukpo, Benue State, and subsequently served as a classroom teacher under the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission between 1984 and 1990.
He joined the defunct St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo, as an Assistant Lecturer in 1990 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer before the institution’s transition into a university.
Over the years, he has held several strategic academic and administrative positions, including Acting Head and substantive Head of the Department of Integrated Science, Director of the Centre for Management Information System (CMIS), Dean of the School of Science, TETFund Desk Officer and Assistant Director of the Ekiti State University degree programme in affiliation with Emmanuel Alayande College of Education.
He currently serves as Head of the Department of Integrated Science, a position he has held since the institution attained university status in 2023.
The university noted that Raimi has made significant contributions to the development of the institution through his service on various committees and governing bodies, including membership of the Governing Council of the former Emmanuel Alayande College of Education and representation of the Senate on the university’s first Governing Council.
An accomplished scholar, Raimi has authored and co-authored several textbooks and published more than 70 scholarly articles in reputable journals, conference proceedings and academic publications. He has also participated in over 40 local and international academic conferences.
Professionally, he is a member of several academic and professional associations, including the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), Nigeria Integrated Science Teachers Project and the Science and Technology Awareness Network.
Congratulating the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan, described the appointment as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the university community.
Olaniyan urged Raimi to deploy his wealth of academic and administrative experience towards advancing the institution’s vision and strengthening its administrative structures.
“The approval of the recommendation of the University Senate on your appointment by the Governing Council reflects its confidence in your ability to deliver. I welcome you into the university administration and look forward to your contributions as an alumnus, scholar and administrator,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He wished the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor a successful tenure in office.
