Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Zone B, Kaduna, ACG Nsikan Umoh, has charged officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to uphold integrity, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, warning that public confidence in the Service depends largely on the conduct of its personnel.
The charge was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Bashir Tanimu, and made available to journalists on Thursday, 18 June 2026, following the ACG’s working visit to the Command in Sokoto.
Addressing officers at the Command Headquarters, ACG Umoh said the ongoing reforms being championed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, can only succeed when officers demonstrate ethical conduct and commitment to national interest.
“The success of these reforms rests on our collective commitment to integrity, discipline and professionalism. Every officer must recognise that the trust reposed in the Service by Nigerians is earned through responsible conduct and unwavering dedication to duty,” she said.
The ACG also met with importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and other stakeholders, during which she emphasised the need for transparency, trust, and compliance in Customs-related transactions.
According to her, stronger cooperation between the Service and stakeholders would promote legitimate trade, improve revenue collection and support national economic growth.
As part of the visit, ACG Umoh paid a courtesy call on the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 10, Sokoto, during which both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration to strengthen security and support economic activities within the region.
Earlier, the Customs Area Controller, Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command, Comptroller Aliyu Ndako, welcomed the Zonal Coordinator and reiterated the Command’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, efficient service delivery and an open-door policy.
