The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained campaign against criminality, arresting four suspected kidnappers and armed robbery suspects while recovering a locally fabricated firearm in separate operations across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the development, stating that the Command’s intelligence-led operations and collaboration with local communities continue to yield positive results in the fight against violent crimes.

According to Edafe, on June 23, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m., the police received a report concerning the arrest of two suspects allegedly involved in an attempted robbery.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects unlawfully entered a residential compound but fled after discovering that the occupants were present.

Alert community members immediately pursued and apprehended the suspect alongside an accomplice before handing them over to the police for further investigation.

Acting on intelligence obtained during interrogation, operatives of the Ugborikoko Police Division searched the suspects’ residence, where they recovered a locally made pistol concealed inside a wardrobe.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to determine whether they are linked to other criminal activities within and outside the area.

In a separate operation, operatives of the ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, working in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group, arrested two suspected kidnappers connected to a failed abduction attempt that occurred on June 19, 2026.

The suspects, identified as Iliyasu Hassan, 16, and Idris Abdulkarim, 32, were apprehended on June 22, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m. after emerging from a nearby forest to purchase food and medication.

Police said a victim of an earlier kidnapping incident positively identified the two suspects as members of the gang that attacked and abducted him, strengthening the case against them.

The suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue. Police authorities said efforts have been intensified to track down other members of the criminal gang and recover weapons allegedly used in their operations.
