… Calls for unity, vows to deepen development
… Rallies Ilaje, Ijaw Apoi, Arogbo for Tinubu, APC candidates
… Says President, Yilwatda Tunji-Ojo, ‘altruistic architects’
The lawmaker representing the Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency, Donald Ojogo, who clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described the outcome of the primary as a friendly exercise that produced no real losers.
While urging stakeholders to embrace reconciliation efforts already being initiated, the lawmaker stated that the primary outcome was not a personal triumph but a collective achievement for the APC.
Ojogo in a statement stressed that the ticket belongs equally to all party members and that individual ambitions must be subordinated to the overriding objective of delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates across Ondo State.
The primary election, according to the candidate, signalled more than an electoral victory, marking renewed cohesion and an affirmation of deeper trust in his capacity to continue delivering genuine representation to the constituents of Ilaje, Ijaw Apoi, and Arogbo Ijaw.
The lawmaker further issued a plea for modesty in the euphoric response to his victory, urging supporters to be conciliatory and avoid taunts directed at those whose views were at variance with theirs.
The statement read in parts, “I am eternally indebted to the constituents of Ilaje, Ijaw Apoi, and Arogbo Ijaw. Your continued love, trust, and belief in my capacity to serve have placed upon my shoulders a responsibility – one I do not take lightly. I shall reciprocate this sacred gesture by rededicating every fibre of my being to the service of our federal constituency.
“It marks renewed cohesion, the opening of another chapter, and an affirmation of a deeper trust in my capacity to continue to deliver genuine representation. Our faith in liberation through development has been reawakened, and the journey to greatness continues.
“I ascribe all glory to God Almighty, whose love and faithfulness have sustained us through every trial. May His Name alone be praised forever.
“I must place on record my profound appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the father of the nation and the National Leader of our great party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Mr President has provided leadership defined by uncommon candour, an unyielding commitment to fairness, and unwavering dedication to equity.
“My gratitude also extends to the National Chairman of our great party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, whose leadership has been anchored on fairness, integrity, and an abiding commitment to the institutional strengthening of the APC. Under his guidance, our party has deepened its roots and broadened its acceptance among the Nigerian people. Mr Chairman, I thank you profoundly.
“I must not fail to express my feelings of love and gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, whose commitment to party cohesion and institutional legislative leverage remains unmatched. Your unrelenting quest for peace, justice, and development has been nothing short of exemplary. Your thoughtful interventions at the most critical moments, especially within our state, created the very conditions that made this journey possible. You have been, in every sense, the altruistic architect of this moment.
“To the leaders of our party in Ilaje/Ese Odo, I salute your steadfastness. You have provided political direction with courage and clarity, standing with the party through every season. With the moments of suspense and anxiety gone, I plead with all to be modest in our euphoric response to this moment.
“Such a response, as it unavoidably comes, must be conciliatory and devoid of taunts of those whose views were at variance with ours. Divergent interests clashed then. The divergence is over, and we must not act in ways that will disrupt reconciliation efforts about to be initiated within days.
“I humbly urge every one of us to consign the primary election to history. Our individual aspirations, however legitimate, are secondary to the larger task before us. Our primary assignment is to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures a landslide victory in Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency and across Ondo State in the 2027 general election.
“This is not a task I can accomplish in isolation. I need you now more than ever before. Indeed, I need you more than you could ever need me in this season of collective endeavour.
“We can only forge ahead in unity and mutual trust. We must remain one indivisible family if we are to continue the great work we have begun in our federal constituency. Let us remember, with the utmost sense of purpose, that our unity as a party is more important. Division is a luxury we cannot afford. Discord is a betrayal of the mandate we have collectively received.”
