Ijesa North Traditional Rulers’ Council in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday endorsed the quest of Accord Party candidate, Pelumi Olajengbesi, to run for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 election.

The council voiced its support during a town hall meeting at its headquarters in Iloko-Jesa, in the presence of council chiefs, residents, Olajengbesi and his wife.

The council, led by the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, expressed confidence in Olajengbesi’s ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Oriade and Obokun as their representative in the House of Representatives.

When asked to speak by the chairman of the council, the Olowena of Owenna Ijesa, Oba Ayelabola Oladoyinbo, took time to pray for Olajengbesi and his wife, who went on their knees.

He said, “Your aspiration for the House of Representatives in the 2027 election is a done deal. We believe you have what it takes to excel, and you will excel and make us proud.

Olajengbesi, from Ijebu-Jesa in the Oriade LGA of Osun State, is the spokesman for The Imole Campaign Council for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke. He is also the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network in Osun.

The lawyer, who will turn 40 in August, previously contested for the same seat in 2019.

In the 2027 election, Olajengbesi is challenging the current lawmaker, Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress, who has been in office for 24 years.

Olajengbesi said the constituency needs effective youth representation and an end to the recycling of old ideas.
