Atiku set to meet Oyo ADC governorship aspirants

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, is expected in Ibadan on Sunday for a strategic meeting with governorship aspirants and leaders of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources within the party said the closed-door meeting is aimed at consulting stakeholders and fostering unity ahead of the party’s governorship primary in Oyo State.

Those expected at the meeting include Dr Gbemileke Alagbe, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, Dr Azeez Adeduntan and Barrister Niyi Aborisade (BANA), all of whom are seeking the party’s governorship ticket.

It would be recalled that  Alagbe,  Ilaka, Adegoke, and Adeduntan had one time or another claimed to be the standard-bearer of the ADC in the state for the 2027 governorship contest.

A party source confirmed the development to The Guardian.

“Yes, Atiku is coming on Sunday for a meeting with all the governorship aspirants,” the source said.

It was gathered that the former vice president will also meet with other leaders of the ADC in the state as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and build consensus ahead of the election.
