The operation, conducted at about 9:40 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, was part of the Joint Task Force’s ongoing offensive aimed at disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of movement within the Operation Enduring Peace Joint Operations Area.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, said the suspects were intercepted while travelling in an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz with registration number EDO GUE-722-LV.

According to the statement, the suspects confessed during preliminary interrogation that they were travelling from Jos, Plateau State, to Niger State.

Items recovered from the vehicle included three AK-47 rifles, four sub-machine guns and the Mercedes-Benz used by the suspects.

The military spokesperson added that one of the suspects attempted to flee during the operation but was immediately subdued. He sustained injuries, is in stable condition and is cooperating with investigators.

“The recovered items and arrested suspects are currently in custody for detailed interrogation and further exploitation,” the statement said.

Operation Enduring Peace commended members of the public for their continued cooperation and support, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the appropriate security agencies.
