The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, has said the Federal Government’s deployment of advanced security technology and adoption of non-kinetic approaches are beginning to yield positive results in tackling insecurity in the North-west states.

Dingyadi said this in a statement issued on Monday, saying the renewed security strategy has led to a reduction in the recurring wave of banditry and other violent crimes in several vulnerable communities.

He described insecurity as one of the country’s most pressing challenges but maintained that the Federal Government, in collaboration with security agencies, remains committed to restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property.

According to him, ongoing operations have focused on states worst affected by banditry, including Zamfara, Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto, with authorities intensifying both military operations and non-military interventions to contain the threat.

“The Federal Government has continued to deploy modern security equipment while complementing kinetic operations with non-kinetic measures aimed at addressing the underlying causes of insecurity,” he said.

Dingyadi expressed optimism that the sustained efforts of security agencies would ultimately bring lasting peace to the affected communities, urging Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting government initiatives.

He, however, lamented the activities of informants, whom he accused of aiding criminal elements and undermining security operations.

He also criticised the politicisation of security issues, warning that such actions could weaken ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry.

The APC media aide further called for stronger synergy among security agencies, stressing that enhanced inter-agency collaboration would improve intelligence gathering and operational efficiency.

He commended the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, for his contributions to the fight against insecurity, describing him as a committed public servant working with other stakeholders to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.

Meanwhile , a university don and Director of the National Education Summit, Professor Ambassador Adams Agahiu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Armed Forces for the rescue of students and teachers abducted from Oriire schools in Oyo State.

Agahiu described the rescue operation as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s resolve to combat terrorism and kidnapping across the country.

According to him, the President directed the military to block the escape routes of the abductors within 24 hours of the incident, a move he said contributed significantly to the eventual release of the victims.

“The security forces refused to yield to the demands of the abductors. They were denied access to food, weapons and other forms of support, while some of their alleged informants were arrested, weakening their operations and leading to the release of the victims,” he said.

Agahiu praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for what he described as professionalism and resilience in carrying out the rescue mission without yielding to the kidnappers’ demands.

He also lauded President Tinubu for providing support to the military in its ongoing operations against terrorism and other violent crimes across the country.

According to him, sustained military offensives have led to the recovery of several communities previously occupied by insurgent groups in parts of the North-East and North-West.
