The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has partnered with IfeanHealth Nigeria Limited to roll out a 3D-printed prosthetics programme aimed at improving access to quality prosthetic care for landmine victims in Nigeria, while strengthening the country’s rehabilitation services through technology transfer and local capacity development.
   
The programme, being implemented by UNIDO in collaboration with a Japanese prosthetics technology company, Instalimb, is designed to introduce advanced prosthetic technology from Japan and build local expertise to support people living with limb loss.
   
Under the agreement, IfeanHealth will serve as UNIDO’s only private-sector contractual partner, supporting the deployment of Japanese 3D-printed prosthetics technology across Nigeria. The initiative combines international technology with local clinical expertise to improve access to prosthetic services and build sustainable rehabilitation capacity.
   
The project has already entered its implementation phase, with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IfeanHealth, Ejike Anih, participating in stakeholder meetings in Abuja alongside UNIDO officials and a Japanese delegation on the implementation plans and the next phase of the programme.

Speaking on the partnership, Anih described the agreement as a major step for Nigeria’s rehabilitation sector, explaining that the programme will use advanced 3D-printing technology to improve access to prosthetic care while helping to develop local skills and strengthen Nigeria’s rehabilitation ecosystem.
   
According to him, “the collaboration aligns closely with IfeanHealth’s long-standing commitment to making world-class prosthetic and orthotic services accessible across Nigeria and the wider West African region through innovation, technology and strategic partnerships.”
   
Meanwhile, UNIDO said the initiative is part of its broader effort to promote the transfer of advanced prosthetics technology from Japan, while developing sustainable local capacity to improve rehabilitation outcomes for persons living with limb loss.
   
Reaffirming its commitment to implementing the project in line with international standards, Anih said IfeanHealth, which focuses on prosthetics and orthotics services across Africa, currently operates clinical and innovation centres in Lagos, Enugu, Kano, Delta, Sokoto and Abuja.
