Afrobeats icon D’banj has celebrated what he described as a historic moment after being invited to ring the closing bell at the London Stock Exchange during activities commemorating the Royal African Society’s 125th anniversary.
The entertainer shared the development on his social media platforms, describing the invitation as a significant honour.
“On Wednesday 22nd of July, History was made. I was invited to the London Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell as we celebrate the 125 years of The Royal African Society,” he wrote.
According to him, the ceremony featured several notable personalities, including the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Michael Drew; Afreximbank President and Second Patron of the Royal African Society, Prof. Benedict Oramah; Chairperson of the Royal African Society, Arunma Oteh; Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Dr. Umaru Kwairanga; Royal African Society CEO, Stella Okuzu; Funab Group CEO, Dr. Muhammad Ajia; and Oando Plc Group CEO, Wale Tinubu.
D’banj expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying, “Honored to have shared the same platform” with the distinguished guests before concluding, “I must greet you all Specially & powerfully.”
The event formed part of celebrations marking 125 years of the Royal African Society’s contributions to strengthening Africa’s global engagement.
