The Delta State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on crime with the arrest of two suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, suspected hard drugs and other incriminating items during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road.

The operation, carried out on Saturday, July 25, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Safer Highway Patrol, resulted in the interception of a grey Mercedes-Benz ML Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) bearing registration number AAA 604 JZ.

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Omini Ezeri, 46, and Chinedum Wagbara, 42, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. However, during preliminary interrogation, a third occupant, identified as God Knows Ifreke, reportedly fled the scene, escaping into a nearby swamp before he could be apprehended.

A comprehensive search of the vehicle uncovered two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, approximately 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder and two sophisticated mobile phones believed to be of investigative value.
Police authorities said the two suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators, while efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.

Commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yemi Oyeniyi, described the operation as another testament to the Command’s commitment to combating violent crime, illegal arms possession and drug trafficking across the state.

He reiterated that the Delta State Police Command remains resolute in ensuring that the state does not provide safe haven for criminals, warning that individuals involved in unlawful possession of firearms, illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities would continue to face sustained law enforcement pressure.

The Police Commissioner also appealed to residents to support ongoing security operations by providing timely, credible and actionable intelligence capable of preventing crime and facilitating the arrest of criminal elements.
