Senator Ahmad Lawan, representing Yobe North Senatorial District, has unveiled a second chance education initiatives for no fewer than 1,178 students from the district, comparing seven Local Councils of the state.

Lawan said the second chance Foundation Education Development Initiative (EEDI), is being launched in Nguru to tackle the growing challenge of out‑of‑school children in the district.

According to him, the remedial education initiatives ate designed to provide educational relief to vulnerable students and their parents and guardian living the various communities..

Flagging off the education initiatives on Monday in Nguru, Lawan disclosed: “The first phase of EEDI will cover and sponsor 1,178 students to complete their education in the 17 secondary schools in Nguru Local Government Area of the state.

Lawan, in a statement issued through the education  programme’s implementation committee, described the initiative as a direct response to the urgent crisis of child education neglect for over three decades..

The former Senate President stated: “It was born out of my personal commitment and a shared responsibility to secure a brighter future for the younger generations in the state.

“This initiative is an expression of my personal commitment, and our shared responsibility, to give our young ones a second chance at a brighter and assured future. It is also my contribution in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of our President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the APC administration.”

The Senator commended the Yobe State Government for its sustained investment in the education sector, emphasizing that the Second Chance Education programme will serve as a complement to the state’s ongoing efforts.”I believe that the second chance initiative and its kind will go a long way in complementing their efforts,” he added.

The intervention covers the full payment of school fees, provision of free uniforms, shoes, and essential educational materials for the beneficiaries. The programme is set to be replicated across the remaining five local government areas of Yobe North Senatorial District.

Lawan also hailed the implementation committee, chaired by Comrade Bashir Sharif Tahir Nguru, for their effective coordination to implement EEDI.
