Lagos State government has tasked civil servants to ensure that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government comply with the new tax law in a transparent and efficient manner.

The Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr Afolabi Ayantayo, gave the charge on Tuesday at the commencement of a two day training on strategic implications of the new Nigerian tax law for selected civil servants.

Ayantayo said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to this important training programme organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Today’s programme reflects our commitment to equipping public servants with the knowledge and skills required to respond effectively to Nigeria’s evolving fiscal landscape.”

The Commissioner noted that the recent tax reforms mark a significant milestone in the nation’s economic journey. “As public servants, it is our responsibility to understand the strategic implications of the New Nigerian Tax Law and ensure that our institutions remain compliant, transparent and efficient.

“I wish to sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, whose administration continues to invest in capacity building and human capital development. Through continuous learning, Lagos State is strengthening a professional public service capable of delivering excellent service.

“Our collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers demonstrates the value of partnerships between government and the private sector in delivering world-class learning experiences. I encourage every participant to engage actively, ask questions and translate the knowledge gained into improved workplace performance.”

He said that at the end of these two days, he expects every participant to become an ambassador of tax awareness, accountability and institutional excellence within the Lagos State Public Service.
