Land Allocation: Yusuf reacts to critics, urges allotees to build solid foundation

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has defended the land allocation to his political appointees which critics described as political motivation ahead of 2027 election.

However, Governor Yusuf insisted that beyond political inclination, the allotees who are Kano state indigene are desirous of land whether or not coming from the state government.

Gov. Yusuf therefore disclosed the intention of his administration on the allocations of plots land to Kano state citizens was aimed at reducing the housing deficit, and creating wealth for families for a better future.

Presenting Certificate of Occupancy to the beneficiaries at the weekend, Gov. Yusuf, represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alh. Umar Faruq Ibrahim revealed the allocation to 1,540 plots of land and N100 million to the APC leaders will also enable the beneficiaries build a solid future for their families.

Those who go the plot-of-land title documents include Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Senior Special Reporters (SSRs), Special Assistants (SAs), Special Reporters (SRs), and Personal Assistants (PAs),

Others that got the allocations include members of All Progressives Congress Polling Unit Supporters Association, otherwise known as Yan’akwati.

Governor Yusuf reminded that receiving an allocation of a plot of land in a government layout was not an ordinary achievement thereby urging the allotees to hold their property with utmost value it’s deserved.

He added that the present administration believes leadership is not measured by the promises it makes, but by the promises it keeps, stressing that the administration was fulfilling a promise it made to the beneficiaries.

Governor Yusuf commended the beneficiaries for supporting his administration from the campaign period to the present, and appealed to them to consider themselves ambassadors of his administration by continuing to enlighten the public about the programmes and projects being undertaken by the Abba Gida-Gida administration.

According to the Governor: “this programme is not simply about the allocation of plots of land; it is about reducing the housing deficit, empowering our people through property ownership, creating wealth for families, and providing young people, women, and vulnerable groups with a solid foundation upon which they can build a better future.”

The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabar Umar, said the number of plots allocated by the Governor Yusuf administration surpassed those allocated by the previous administrations of former Governors Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The commissioner described the gesture as a first of its kind in the history of all democratic governments in the state just as he urged the beneficiaries not to sell the allocated plots but to keep them for future use.

“Let me give you an example: former Governor Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso distributes about 1500 Plots, Former Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje distributes about 2000 but the present Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as at now distributes more than 2000 in two days, “The commissioner said.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke, including SSA Hassan Sani Tukur, SSR Amir Abdullahi Kima, SA Jamilu Aliyu Drone, and Kano APC Youth Leader, Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf and promised to work assiduously to ensure his re-election in the 2027 general elections.
