The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of a daughter with his wife, Olori Oluwatosin, months after welcoming twin boys with Olori Mariam Ajibola.
The monarch shared the news on his social media pages on Sunday, describing the birth as another blessing to the House of Oduduwa.
He thanked God for the safe delivery and confirmed that Olori Oluwatosin and the newborn princess were in good health.
“To God Almighty be all the glory for his unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life.
“Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin.
“May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace, and honour.
“We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health,” he wrote.
The child’s arrival comes less than three months after Olori Mariam gave birth to twin princes.
The Ooni announced the twins’ birth in May 2026, expressing gratitude to God and congratulating the royal household.
He also confirmed at the time that Olori Mariam and the children were healthy.
The birth of the new princess continues a period of celebrations within the royal family, which has welcomed several children in recent years.
In March 2024, the Ooni and Olori Tobiloba Phillips welcomed twins, Prince Obalabi and Princess Ademilokan.
Five months later, the children were formally received at the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife.
The ceremony attracted members of the royal family, traditional chiefs and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate their arrival.
In September 2024, the monarch announced the birth of another son with Olori Afolashade Ashley Ogunwusi.
The Ooni also has a son, Prince Tadenikawo, with his former wife, Naomi Silekunola. The child was born in November 2020.
His eldest child, Princess Adeola Aanuoluwapo Ogunwusi, was born before he became the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife.
Oba Ogunwusi married six women between September and October 2022, months after Naomi publicly announced the end of their marriage.
The royal ceremonies began with Mariam Anako on September 6 and were followed by those of Elizabeth Opeoluwa Akinmuda and Tobiloba Phillips.
He also married Afolashade Ashley Adegoke, Ronke Ademiluyi and Temitope Adesegun during the same period.
While marking his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary in 2022, the monarch addressed his decision to marry several wives.
He explained that he had tried to introduce some changes after becoming Ooni but found that certain responsibilities of the throne were connected to the traditions and heritage of Ile-Ife.
Born on October 17, 1974, Oba Ogunwusi is a member of the Giesi Ruling House.
He emerged as the 51st Ooni of Ife in October 2015, following the passing of his predecessor, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II.
The monarch received his staff of office and was formally crowned in December 2015.
He marked his 10th coronation anniversary in December 2025, with traditional rulers and other prominent Nigerians praising his efforts to promote peace, culture and unity across Yorubaland.
