Army’s 10 Division will boost security in Taraba – ALGON chairman

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON)

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali, has described the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 10 Division in Taraba State as a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen security and safeguard lives and property across the state.

Maihankali, who also serves as the Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Council, stated this on Tuesday in Jalingo, saying the creation of the military division under the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas represents one of the government’s most notable achievements in addressing security challenges, particularly in border communities.

According to him, the presence of the 10 Division will enhance military operations in Taraba, neighbouring Adamawa State, and other adjoining areas that have experienced security threats over the years.

“The establishment of the 10 Division is expected to strengthen military operations in Taraba and neighbouring Adamawa State. It will also improve security across other adjoining communities that have faced security challenges over the years,” he said.

Maihankali commended Governor Kefas and other critical stakeholders for what he described as their commitment and collaborative efforts in ensuring the successful establishment of the military formation in the state.

He urged residents of Taraba State to cooperate with the Nigerian Army by providing credible information and other necessary support to enable the military to effectively discharge its constitutional responsibility of protecting the country’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of citizens.

The ALGON chairman also applauded Governor Kefas for his administration’s achievements in workers’ welfare, the payment of benefits to retired civil servants, and his inclusive approach to governance.

He noted that the governor’s policies had continued to improve the living conditions of residents and appealed to the people of the state to remain united in supporting the administration’s development agenda.

“I call on the people of our dear state to remain united and support the governor’s development agenda because sustained public support will enable the administration to consolidate on its achievements and deliver more democratic dividends,” he said.

Maihankali further appealed to residents to shun violence, embrace peace, and support Governor Kefas’ “Moving Forward” agenda, which he said is aimed at accelerating the state’s development.

Commenting on the recent approval of the payment of five months’ salary arrears, he described the decision as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to addressing workers’ welfare and improving the living standards of ordinary citizens.

He urged beneficiaries of the salary arrears to reciprocate the government’s gesture by remaining dedicated, hardworking, and committed to efficient service delivery in their respective places of work.
