Man arrested for armed robbery in Ogun

Operatives of Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps(So-Safe) Corps have arrested a 25-year-old suspect for armed robbery in Itele, Ogun State.

The suspect, Babatunde Ayinla, was arrested on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at about 1:00p.m, following a disress call received by operatives regarding an ongoing robbery around Lafenwa road.

The Corp’s Commander, Soji Ganzallo confirmed this to newsmen in a statement made available through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Ganzallo said that upon the receipt of the call, the operatives led by Area Commander, Itele Area Command, ACC Abayomi Abass to the scene around the Orji Block Bus Stop along Lafenwa Road.

He said that, upon arriving at the scene, the operatives spotted some members of the syndicate fleeing on a stolen motorcycle and successfully cornered and arrested Ayinla.

The Commander said that exhibits recovered from the suspect are: one locally fabricated pistol, two rounds of unspent live ammunition and one local protective charm were recovered from him.

He said that the suspect and recovered items have been handed over to the Itele Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
