Popular Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Olakunle Churchill has dismissed reports alleging that he was arrested in Switzerland over an ongoing tax-related investigation, describing the publication as false and malicious.

The report, which circulated on several online platforms, had claimed that Churchill was arrested in Switzerland in connection with an investigation involving a company allegedly linked to one of his business associates.

According to the publication, Swiss authorities were probing the company over alleged tax evasion arising from its agricultural importation and international trade operations.

The report further alleged that the company maintained a business relationship with the Churchill Group of Companies and that Churchill had been taken into custody while legal representatives were working to secure his release.

Reacting to the claims in a post shared on his social media platforms, Churchill categorically denied ever being arrested or having any legal issues with Swiss authorities.

“We Nigerians can sometimes be our own biggest problem. The jealousy, negativity and constant spread of false information is exhausting,” he wrote.

He added: “For the record, I have no police case, no court case… nothing of that sort. I also choose not to put my assets or businesses on public display and that is entirely my decision.”

Churchill further accused those behind the report of deliberately fabricating stories to tarnish his image, stating that some Nigerians living abroad had made it a habit to pry into his personal affairs.

“It’s unfortunate that some Nigerians in the diaspora feel the need to dig into other people’s lives as though it’s their business. When they can’t find anything to hold against you, they resort to fabricating stories in an attempt to damage your reputation,” he stated.

Expressing confidence despite the controversy, the businessman said he remained focused on his personal and business engagements.

“Thankfully, lies don’t change the truth. What God has blessed, no one can curse. I remain focused, unbothered and grateful for God’s grace,” Churchill concluded.
