The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has reviewed the document titled “Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat 2027 Agenda: The Plan to Organise Lagos,” stressing that it shows the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s seven years of failure under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy.

In a press release dated August 7, 2026, and signed by Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, Prince Dr. Christopher Odianarewo, the opposition political party attacked Deputy Governorz Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s newly circulated “2027 Agenda” document as a confession of the APC’s unfulfilled promises on water, flooding, traffic, waste, housing, and security.

The Lagos PDP argued that as incumbent Deputy Governor since 2019 under Governor Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat should have already implemented these ideas rather than repackaging them as future plans ahead of the 2027 elections.

“What immediately stands out is not the abundance of promises, but the glaring admission that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has spectacularly failed Lagosians despite occupying the offices of Governor and Deputy Governor since 2019,” the statement read.

“Dr. Obafemi Hamzat is not an opposition candidate. He is the incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

“If indeed he possesses such a comprehensive blueprint capable of transforming Lagos into a safe, organised, water secure, flood free, and prosperous city, Nigerians are entitled to ask one simple question: What has stopped him and his principal, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, from implementing these ideas over the last seven years?”

According to the PDP, the APC can not continue to deceive Lagosians by repackaging yesterday’s failures as tomorrow’s promises.

Every election cycle, the opposition party accused the APC of unveiling glossy documents filled with attractive slogans, ambitious targets, and lofty declarations, “Yet the daily realities confronting Lagosians tell a completely different story.

“If the APC truly believes that Lagos deserves running water, flooding should be brought under control, waste management requires urgent reform, public transportation needs proper organisation, affordable housing should be accessible, security should be technology driven, and street harassment must end, then why have these remained largely unfulfilled under an administration in which Dr. Hamzat has served as Deputy Governor since 2019?”

According to the Lagos State PDP, the truth is that the so called 2027 agenda is nothing more than a public confession that the APC government has failed to deliver on the very issues it now seeks another mandate to address.

It lamented that Lagosians still endure chronic flooding after every rainfall, residents continue to spend fortunes purchasing water because pipe borne water remains a luxury in many communities, traffic congestion has worsened, environmental sanitation remains deplorable, housing remains beyond the reach of ordinary citizens, and businesses continue to struggle under the weight of poor infrastructure and multiple taxation.

It stressed that one would have expected the Deputy Governor to present a scorecard of achievements instead, he has presented another catalogue of promises, promises that could and should have been fulfilled during his tenure in office.

The PDP stated that it is intellectually dishonest for an administration that has been in power for years to seek applause for identifying problems it has failed to solve.

“The APC’s latest propaganda can not erase the undeniable reality confronting millions of Lagosians daily. Governance is not about producing attractive policy documents or conducting endless consultations. Governance is about implementation, accountability, and measurable results,” the statement read.

“Lagosians are wiser today than they were yesterday. They have endured enough broken promises and recycled campaign rhetoric. They know that the APC has perfected the art of making grand declarations while delivering little in return.”

The Lagos State PDP has therefore urged residents to judge political parties not by beautifully written manifestoes but by their record in office.

It argued that the APC has had more than enough time to prove itself but rather than organise Lagos, it has organised excuses.

The PDP added that no amount of media spin or political rebranding can conceal the truth because Lagos deserves competent, transparent, compassionate, and accountable leadership, not another chapter of recycled promises from those who have already had every opportunity to perform.

As such, the opposition political party said the time has come for genuine change, stressing that Lagosians can not and will not be deceived again.
