THE minister of Works ,Engr Dave Umahi has urged the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to see themselves as future leaders and begin to get involved in the running of Nigeria by clearly taking stands rather than standing on the fence .
The minister also claimed that he was shocked to realize that the Growth Domestic Product (GDP) of Nigeria has grown more than the country’s population , stressing further that the subsidy removal and borrowing are being plunged into road infrastructure .
The minister pointed out that about N782Billion is required to complete legacy projects of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
Speaking when he was decorated as Grand Patron of NANS by the union’s leadership , the minister expressed concerns that opposition leaders have left issue-based conversations and spending time to chase shadows,just as he commended former Cross Rivers state Governor , Doland Duke for addressing national issues rather than attacking personalities .
He also explained that his disagreement with the presidential candidate of Nigerian Democratic Party (NDP), Mr Peter Obi is on convictions that the former Anambra state Governor will defeat incumbent Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Umahi also vowed that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will be completed regardless of the attacks , stressing that over 50 percent of the entire stretch has already been completed .
The minister criticized President Tinubu’s rivals for making promises without providing the road map to solutions and how they will actualize those promises .
Earlier the President of National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez who named the minister of works Engr Dave Umahi as the Grant Patron of the association said the award was in recognition of hard work and commitment to excellence .
The NANS President pointed out that the visit to the minister was home and efforts at forging partnership and alliances with the minister such that will afford the students ,the opportunity to tour round the legacy projects of the Tinubu administration executed under the leadership of the Minister .

“Road infrastructure are particularly significant for our students as it will ease movement to examination venues for students, provide access to educational locations and reduce long hours of various vehicular movements across Nigeria and ensure that timeliness is achieved.
“Your appointment is a vote of confidence and as one of the main drivers of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and we will support you on this journey.
“We have a duty to contribute to the development of this country and to that extent we make bold to say that the scale of road projects completed under your leadership is worth recognition and we look forward to a long partnership that will be in the interest of Nigerians.
