The Delta State Government has indefinitely suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Hon. Reuben Izeze, over allegations linking him to the assault of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Protocol, Mr. Simon Mudi, popularly known as “Temple.”

The suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force indefinitely, pending the outcome of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.

The state government announced the decision in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, on Monday, following the violent disruption of an All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.

According to the government, the decision was taken to allow relevant security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations and ensure that the process is carried out without interference.

The Delta State Government said the suspension was necessary to uphold due process, adding that the state administration remained committed to public safety, the maintenance of law and order, and the protection of the sanctity of human life.

It stressed that these principles would be upheld in all circumstances, including where allegations involve serving public officials or other institutions of government.

The statement did not specify the duration of the suspension, stating only that it would remain in effect indefinitely pending the conclusion of the investigation.
