*** Demands INEC clarification

 

The Imole Campaign Council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised concerns over the alleged presence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ebonyi State, Pauline Ugoyenka, in Osun ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The campaign council urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify Ugoyenka’s presence in the state, arguing that her name was not contained in the list of RECs deployed to Osun for the August 15 poll.

The call was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Imole Campaign Council, Hon. Bamidele Salam.

The council said an INEC letter dated August 3, 2026, addressed to RECs from 15 contributing states, identified the officials and states providing supervisory contingents for the Osun election.

According to the campaign council, Ebonyi State was not listed among the contributing states.

It questioned the authority under which Ugoyenka was allegedly present in Osun and called on INEC to provide clarification.

“So, who authorised Mrs Pauline Ugoyenka’s presence in Osun, and what exactly is she doing here?” the council asked.

The campaign council urged INEC to publish the full list of officials deployed for the election to eliminate concerns over the deployment of electoral personnel.

It raised concerns over the alleged use of electoral materials that were not properly customised for the Osun governorship election.

The council demanded immediate clarification from INEC on the production and verification of ballot papers and result sheets to be used for the election.

“We therefore demand immediate clarification from INEC and insist that only properly customised ballot papers and result sheets specifically produced and verified for the Osun governorship election must be used,” the statement said.

The campaign council said it would not accept any arrangement capable of compromising the transparency and credibility of the election.

It urged INEC to address the concerns before Saturday’s poll, stressing the need for all electoral officials and materials deployed to the state to have clear and verifiable authorisation.
