National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, urging his challengers to accept the outcome in good faith and join hands with the governor to move the state forward.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes.

The result gave Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes, with the governor securing 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

In a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday, Dickson described the outcome as more than a victory for Adeleke, saying it represented an important affirmation of the people’s power to determine who governs them.

He said the election had shown that, despite the challenges confronting Nigeria’s democratic system, citizens could still make their voices heard through the ballot.

Dickson commended the people of Osun for what he described as their determination to defend their democratic choice, saying the outcome underscored the importance of citizens remaining engaged in the electoral process.

He, however, called on Adeleke’s opponents to move beyond the contest and contribute to the peace and development of the state.

Dickson said:

Dickson said the conclusion of the election should mark the beginning of a new phase of collective responsibility, with political differences giving way to the shared task of improving the lives of Osun residents.

He urged the governor to see the renewed mandate as a call to deepen good governance and unite the state, while encouraging his opponents to remain constructive partners in its development.
