The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State has welcomed Mogaji Olusegun Abiodun Agboola into its fold and unveiled its 17 National Assembly candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party chairman, Hon. Okunlade Michael, announced this at a stakeholders’ meeting attended by party leaders, stakeholders and members of the press.

Okunlade said the meeting was significant as it provided an opportunity for the party to formally receive Agboola, who, according to him, had demonstrated his readiness and commitment to joining the SDP.

He said: “I am pleased to inform you that Mogaji Olusegun Abiodun Agboola will be officially welcomed to our midst. He has demonstrated his readiness and commitment to become a member of the Social Democratic Party and we are delighted to have him with us.”

The chairman said the meeting would also enable party stakeholders to interact with the new member, exchange ideas and build a mutually beneficial relationship with members across the party.

He disclosed that the party had successfully uploaded the names of its 14 National Assembly candidates and three senatorial candidates.

Okunlade urged party members and stakeholders to commence aggressive grassroots mobilisation, stressing that the party’s message must reach every ward, local government, community and household across the state.

“I will also encourage everyone to begin our mobilisation effort in earnest. The time for serious engagement is now. Let us take our party messages to every ward, local government, communities and households,” he said.

He called for continued commitment, loyalty and support from party members as the SDP intensifies preparations for the forthcoming elections.

The chairman also commended the party’s leaders and stakeholders for their commitment to the growth of the SDP in Oyo State.
