THE Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has concluded arrangements aimed at conducting final verification exercise for allottees /holders of genuine interests in the defunct Site and Services Scheme in Dukpa, Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with a view to relocating them to an alternative location.

It also explained that it will hold strictly on working days, and affected allottees are required to come with relevant documents and proof of allocation for the exercise, like original and photocopies of their Letter of Allocation, payment receipt(s), valid identification, a sworn affidavit supporting their claim of ownership, and passport photographs.

A statement by Badamasi Haiba, the Director Press and Public Relations, stated “The exercise will run strictly on working days within the stated period, and that any plot or allottee not verified within the timeframe will not be included in the relocation to the alternative site”.

According to it, the residential and service plots in the scheme were originally allocated in 1992 by the then Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for private development, supervening circumstances necessitated the revocation of all allocations and interests in the area by the government for overriding public purpose of the National Housing Programme (NHP).

“In line with Section 28(2B) of the Land Use Act, Cap 202, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria(as amended), the Ministry has concluded plans to relocate all genuine allottees to an alternative site secured within Gwagwalada, and has scheduled a final verification exercise to authenticate claims ahead of the relocation.”

It further explained that the exercise will last for three weeks beginning on September 7th, 2026 at the office of the Presidential Technical Committee on Land Reform (PTCLR), Garki 2, and the Department of Lands and Housing Development at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Mabushi, Abuja.

However, the affected members of the public are therefore advised to take maximum advantage of the window to regularise their status ahead of the relocation, noting that no further extension will be granted.
