Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma (JTF NW OPFY) have sustained their operational momentum across the Joint Operations Area, rescuing a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiling a terrorist attack in Sokoto State.

On 20 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North-west OPFY, Lt. Colonel Aliyu Danja and made available to newsmen in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.

According to the statement, the troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee. The rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family.

“In a separate operation on 21 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, working in conjunction with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Troops engaged the terrorists and forced them to withdraw in disarray”, he added.

“During the subsequent pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, one terrorist was neutralized, while troops recovered 2 mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene”
