2027: Cross River APC tasks members on grassroots mobilisation

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State has tasked party members and support groups to intensify grassroots mobilization as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The charge was given yesterday in Calabar during the inauguration of a new support group tagged “Cross River Arise for Prince Otu/Peter Odey 2027.”

Chieftain of the party and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Felix Idem, said the new group was formed to strengthen the party’s electoral fortunes and must work hard to justify its existence by expanding the party’s base at the grassroots.

“This group has come to add value to the electoral process of APC in Cross River State,” Idem stated.

He urged party faithful to take the recruitment message back home.
“I want every one of you here to take this message, go back to your home, bring more members, attach yourself to work and more and more will be done,” he said.

The Commissioner stressed that political relevance in 2027 will be determined by performance at the polling unit, not by titles.

“It is not a period of showcasing that you are powerful. You are powerful in your polling unit. If you are powerful, win your polling unit,” he stated.

Idem charged members to aim for total victory across all polling units.
“It is not to win some and lose some. Win all. Then you can negotiate. You cannot fail in all your polling booths, fail in your work and then you come out to say you are the Baba of the entire world.

“We are not interested in that. We want to see your polling booth, what you have done,” he added.

He assured that the party leadership would support the group to grow if members remain committed to aggressive grassroots mobilization.

In his remarks, Cross River State APC Chairman, Hon Chris Ettah, said the party’s push was also in appreciation of federal support.

He described President Bola Tinubu as “the only Nigerian President since Olusegun Obasanjo” to give the state a listening ear on its oil well and bankruptcy challenges.

Ettah insisted that Cross Riverians have “no option but to support” the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu in 2027.

The event drew party stakeholders and members of support groups from across the 18 local government areas of the state.
