Alia approves three operational military units to strengthen security in Benue

Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has announced that the Sankera Area (Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo) will be hosting three operational military units as part of measures to strengthen security in the area.

This is even as he also announced the donation of 30 motorcycles to security agencies in the area to further facilitate general patrol and rapid responses when called upon.

The governor made these declarations yesterday at Katsina-Ala during a town hall with stakeholders of Sankera political bloc of the state.

Aliai disclosed this while on a statewide thank-you tour to appreciate the All Progressives Congress (APC) members for electing him at the party primaries to fly the gubernatorial flag of the party for the 2027 general elections. The governor is using the tour to hold town halls with stakeholders grouped according to the 11 federal constituencies in the state.

As announced by the governor, the locations the military units will be stationed at Sankera include Agu in Katsina-Ala, Anyiin in Logo and Azendeshi in Ukum.

On infrastructure and development, Alia announced plans for the construction of a new dam with a projected capacity of 460 megawatts, saying the project would provide water and support electricity generation for the people of the state.

Addressing concerns surrounding ranching, the governor assured the people that no ranch would be established in Benue without the consent of the people and his administration.
