The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has released the results of the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examinations, with the overall performance improving significantly from last year.

NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Mohammed, announced the results on Wednesday in Benin, stating that 79,503 candidates, representing 81.24 per cent of the 97,863 candidates graded, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

The figure represents a notable rise from the 68.18 per cent recorded in the 2025 examination, when 61,104 candidates achieved the same benchmark.

Mohammed further disclosed that 89,580 candidates, representing 91.53 per cent, secured five credits and above, with or without English Language and Mathematics.

He said 24,128 candidates were certified as craftsmen, while 100,069 candidates registered for the examination and 97,867 eventually sat for the papers, representing a 97.80 per cent attendance rate.

The NABTEB chief also disclosed that 847 candidates were involved in 1,554 examination malpractice incidents, accounting for 1.55 per cent of those who sat for the examination.

According to him, the malpractice figure was lower than that of 2025, indicating that measures introduced by the board to curb examination misconduct were yielding results.

Mohammed said the 2026 results were released 52 days after the final paper, describing the turnaround time as part of the board’s commitment to timely service delivery.

He advised candidates to use only NABTEB’s authorised result-checking platform and warned against fraudsters offering to upgrade or alter examination results, stressing that no individual has the authority to change a legitimately awarded result.
