FCT police rearrests two ex-convicts for child abduction, rescue four-year old girl

THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT), police command has rearrested two ex-convicts for alleged child abduction,trafficking as well as rescues a four-year-old girl.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the FCT Command , Josephine Adeh in a statement said operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John in Kuje Area of the FCT while attempting to escape with an abducted four year old girl- child identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah in August 2026.

She said:”The suspects were arrested after a well meaning member of the community who observed the entire incident alerted the Police.

“Responding swiftly to the report, Police operatives arrived at the scene, rescued the child and arrested both suspects.”

The PRO said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned before a court in connection with a similar offence.

“They were subsequently convicted and released on bail after spending about five months in prison.

“Further investigation revealed that since their release, the suspects have abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country.

“The most recent case involved two children who were taken to a regular accomplice in PortHarcourt, identified only as Madam Ijeoma, who purchased the children for the sum of N1.5 million each.

“The rescued four year old girl has since been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remain in Police custody as investigation continues. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

“The FCT Police Command urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and intentional about the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards at all times. Members of the public are equally encouraged to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest Police station or through the commands emergency phone numbers.”
